Hoppe normally uses the intertial measuring system HOSIM as a motion sensor on our FLUME® and U-Tank roll damping systems. There, HOSIM determines the roll and pitch angles, the associated periods as well as the trim and the list. Now, however, our HOSIM sensors are also being used to monitor the lock gates that are being installed at the world's largest sea lock, currently under construction in IJmuiden. There, the sensors will monitor the impact of forces on the gates, as well as the respective inclination. The lock is located at the mouth of the 27-kilometre-long North Sea Canal, which connects Amsterdam with the sea. The lock, commissioned by the Dutch government, has the following dimensions: 500 metres long, 70 metres wide, 18 metres deep.
