About the role

The Data Services team is developing and maintaining the cloud data pipeline. Telemetry data is extracted from our customers vessels with our own ship to shore solution, which comes with its own set of unique challenges like low bandwidth and low availability of satellite internet on the sea. To make the data available for our customers it is processed and analyzed in our Serverless AWS cloud pipeline.

• Work in a supportive team with 3 other experienced developers and 1 data-analyst.
• Further develop and maintain our shore and ship based customer facing web interfaces based on React and React Admin.
• Architect, build and maintain cloud-native, serverless APIs and data pipelines on AWS written in Python.
• Thoroughly design and review software components for reliability and security.
• Embrace the DevOps mindset as the team builds and runs its solutions.
• Work with a team that embraces a mindset of “continuous improvement by being able to quickly adapt to new ways of working, embracing constant change and failing fast to learn from failures”.

• You have a professional software developer background with relevant experience.
• You have advanced knowledge in high level languages.
• You have a demonstrable track record in building frontend applications, ideally with React.
• You’re eager to learn new technologies and are open to work with JavaScript (frontend) and Python (backend).
• You have experience with providing high quality user experience with full stack applications.
• You’re familiar with standard developer tools like Git, Docker and feel at home on Linux systems.
• You’re fluently communicating in English.

For thisposition it is most important for us that you’re experienced in architectingand developing frontend applications, than having extensive experience in thebackend.
